Beware of Imposters! Registered and Board Certified Art Therapists have a master's degree in art therapy or higher from a nationally approved program from the American Art Therapy Association, and receive extensive supervision before they can receive the registration credential, the ATR. After which they study for and take a comprehensive board certification exam, and they then can have the credentials ATR-BC. (Registered Art Therapist, Board Certified). Art Therapists work in many different settings and private practice.
